RoyaleAPI is the name most players reach for when they want Clash Royale stats on the web. DeckBeacon is a narrower tool: a ranked deck browser that copies a deck into the game without a captcha or an ad in the way. They overlap on one job and diverge on almost everything else.

This page is written by DeckBeacon. That is worth saying up front. The comparison is still the honest one: RoyaleAPI wins at lookup and breadth; DeckBeacon wins at getting a ranked deck into your collection without friction. If you need a player tag resolved, you are not in DeckBeacon's market.

None of the numbers below are scraped from RoyaleAPI. DeckBeacon's catalog is computed from the official Clash Royale API; see how the ranking works. Feature claims about RoyaleAPI are about the public product (web stats, player/clan pages, a Cloudflare-gated copy flow with ads), not about their ranking formula.

The job that actually overlaps

Both sites will show you a popular deck and give you a way to copy it into Clash Royale. That is the whole overlap.

Around that job, the products are built for different people:

  • RoyaleAPI is a stats destination. You go there to look up a player, a clan, a matchup, a card's history, or a much larger deck corpus than a 200-deck snapshot. Breadth is the point.
  • DeckBeacon is a browse-and-copy tool. You go there to filter the current ranked sample (elixir, cycle, Evolutions, cards you own or refuse to play) and open one validated official link. Depth of lookup is deliberately missing.

If a comparison table listed "player profiles" as a DeckBeacon gap and stopped there, it would be describing a missing feature. It is a missing product. DeckBeacon does not resolve player tags, does not search clans, and does not pretend the official API offers a global name search — because it does not. Copy-deck is where the products feel different

Copying a deck is the conversion event for both sites. It is also where the daily experience splits.

DeckBeacon's copy button is an official link.clashroyale.com URL, re-checked against the deck at render time. On a phone it opens Clash Royale. On a desktop it shows a QR code. There is no account, no interstitial, and no ad adjacent to the button — ads, when they exist at all, are a list-only concern and never sit on the copy path. The one real limitation is Supercell's: the official link format does not carry Evolution or Hero form. Every affected deck on DeckBeacon lists the cards you still have to set by hand. RoyaleAPI also offers copy links. The public site sits behind a Cloudflare bot challenge, and the copy flow runs through ads. That combination is why a lot of "RoyaleAPI alternative" searches exist at all. It is a defensible anti-scraping posture. It is also friction on the exact action a player came to perform.

Neither site can put Evolutions on the copied deck. Anyone who claims otherwise is not using the official handoff. Details in how to set Evolutions after copying.

What the numbers mean (and what they do not)

DeckBeacon publishes three figures on a ranked deck: Rating, win rate, and usage.

  • Rating is a 0–100 score from a 95% Wilson lower bound over decisive games. It is not RoyaleAPI's Rating, and it is never shown with a %. A deck with fewer than 50 decisive games shows an em dash, not a zero.
  • Win rate is wins over wins+losses, so draws do not dilute it.
  • Usage is the deck's share of appearances in the sample.

The sample is a crawl of the Path of Legends leaderboard and those players' battle logs. It is a bounded sample, not a census and not a seven-day history. A deck that is popular outside that window will not appear. The thresholds that have to clear before a snapshot can ship are on the methodology page.

We do not scrape RoyaleAPI's ratings, names, or artwork, and we do not treat their ranking as a source. If a number on this site agrees with a number on theirs, that is two independent pipelines landing near each other — not a copy.

When to use DeckBeacon

  • You want a ranked deck in your collection in one tap, without a captcha or an ad
  • You care that Rating is defined, and that thin samples are marked unrated rather than scored
  • You want filters that match how you actually pick a deck: elixir, four-card cycle, Evolutions, include/exclude cards
  • You are fine without player lookup, clan stats, or a deck builder
  • You want the same catalog offline in a native app

When to use RoyaleAPI

  • You need a player or clan page — DeckBeacon will not grow that surface
  • You want matchup tools, card history, or a much larger deck corpus than a 200-deck ranked snapshot
  • You already live in their UI and the captcha is a tax you are willing to pay for that breadth
  • You are researching esports, replays, or something other than "give me a ladder deck"

Those are real jobs. DeckBeacon is not an attempt to replace the whole RoyaleAPI site with a prettier clone.
