What is a Tower Troop in Clash Royale?

A Tower Troop is the unit on your king's tower — Princess, Cannoneer, Duchess, Royal Chef. It is part of a deck's identity on DeckBeacon.

A Tower Troop is the unit that occupies your princess/king tower slot: Tower Princess by default, or an unlocked alternative such as Cannoneer, Dagger Duchess, or Royal Chef. It is not one of the eight cards in your hand. It is still part of what you "play" every match, and it changes how defence feels.

DeckBeacon treats Tower Troop as part of deck identity. Two lists with the same eight cards and different towers are not the same deck. They get different hashes, different pages, and different copy links. That matches Clash Royale: copying the eight cards onto a Princess tower is not the same import as copying them onto a Cannoneer tower.

Defaults and the copy link

The official copy URL carries the Tower Troop as well as the eight cards. If a ranked deck uses a non-default tower, the imported deck should arrive with that tower — unlike Evolution and Hero form, which the same URL cannot carry.

If you have not unlocked that Tower Troop, Clash Royale will not magically grant it. The copy still succeeds for the eight cards; the tower falls back according to the game's own rules. DeckBeacon cannot override that.

Why the site shows it on the deck

A Cannoneer control list and a Princess control list defend different air and ground patterns. Hiding the tower would make the eight-card grid look cleaner and the copied matchup wrong. The tile is therefore first-class on the deck page, next to the cards, not a footnote.

Art for the four towers we pin is official-API artwork, with a text-tile fallback if a pin is missing. Bundling that art in a public app still depends on Fan Content Policy review; the web fallback is there so a missing PNG never blanks the page.
